Fees for Service:
Dr. Burchell's standard fee for a 50-minute counseling therapy session is $90. Payment is due at the close of
each session. Cash, personal checks and credit cards (Master Card or Visa) are accepted. Please make
your check payable to Stephanie Burchell, PhD. At the end of each month I will provide client's with a receipt
documenting the charges, payments, and a diagnosis when necessary for insurance reimbursement.
Currently, Dr. Burchell is a registered provider with Aetna and HealthSmart Preferred Care and Texas True
Choice. Depending on your health insurance carrier, counseling and treatment with Dr. Burchell may also
qualify as out-of-network mental health care. With the exception of the insurance providers noted above, Dr.
Burchell does not personally submit out-of-network insurance claims as a form of payment. However, at the
end of each month you will be provided with a receipt of payment which can then be submitted to your
respective provider for reimbursement. It is up the insurance company as to whether they'll pay for services
provided by a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA). It is your responsibility to know
the type of mental health coverage you carry as well as the limits of that coverage.
Out of interest to clients, Dr. Burchell has chosen to limit her participation with health insurance carriers to
only those listed above. In some cases, achieving the full benefits of psychotherapy can be undermined
when insurance providers dictate or limit the type of treatment intervention that is best suited for the
individual, couple or family. Additionally, to claim insurance reimbursement, a “diagnosis” and “treatment
plan” is required to be filed by the practitioner. Although there are legitimate cases in which a diagnosis is
appropriate and necessary, such as for depression or other disorders, there are many times in which
professional help is needed to overcome situational and short-term problems resulting from adjustment
difficulties and life challenges. For this reason, it is my goal to provide reasonable and affordable fees for
therapy treatment.
Appointments & Cancellations:
Appointments can be made by calling Stephanie Burchell between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday
through Friday. To cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment.
You will be charged for late cancellations and missed appointments, and you may lose your appointment time.

variety of issues. Extended sessions lasting longer than 50 minutes must be scheduled and agreed upon by
